The Pieta is one of my favorite works of art. You may have noticed! I have had several folks ask about the process I used in creating this panel. So, I thought I would add a little slide show showing the progression. The panel is a cropped portion of a large sculpture created by Michelangelo Buonarroti, housed in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City. Pieta means pity or compassion. I believe Michelangelo captured Mary's emotion perfectly.
